Going to sound strange but I think we should be praying for mercy for our enemies...
✝️ Scripture 🕊️
God will win and His might is beyond what we can imagine. Those that are the enemy of God will suffer enormous loss. Pray for God to have mercy on even those that are against Him.
Remember we were all against Him before He came looking for us and found us.
Thank you, that's all I was looking for. Some honesty.
If you want to stick to your personal fallible interpretation of scripture, knock yourself out.
Catholic theologians have various explanations but I think the most commonly known one is this:
Human sacrifice is heinous, yes, so is genocide and rape. But even these are ultimately forgivable, if the person who commits it is repentant. But to refuse to repent even when the HS tries to inspire the person to repent would be to blaspheme the HS.
I'm sure you've put a lot of time and study into this, but scripture itself has a quote for that:
This goes fundamentally to the heart of Protestant Christianity, the question of authority. Who has the authority to interpret scripture? In the American example, who has the authority to interpret the Constitution? Well the Supreme Court ofc, not just any individual that has an inkling for the law. For Protestants it is anyone under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. You definitely know your stuff, and I laud you for that, but at the end of the day it is the scholarship of a flawed and fallible human being ... you could be incorrect.
