Are sheriff's voted into office?
Yes they are voted in.
The only states without County Sheriffs are Alaska, Connecticut and Hawaii.
Sheriffs are the only law enforcement officers voted in, and they can serve for decades in office. He reports only to We The People. He's the ultimate authority.
The UN, IRS, OSHA, DEA, FBI, the Governor, Mayor, not even the President of the United States can tell a Sheriff what to do. But when folks like that are within the Sheriff's jurisdiction, he can tell them what to do. The question is.....will he?
Yes, elected to serve the people AND justice, because of being elected, they have broader powers of law enforcement. They can deputize as many as needed for any task at hand..
