And most people are too stupid to realize you still have to recharge your batteries from the grid (unless you build your own solar/wind station). Our infrastructure is already unable to keep up with our current demands and we are going to add in 100 million vehicles to the load? Also, how is it good for the environment to trash millions of functioning cars and produce new ones that need rare-earth metals?
My local municipal power company built a 600 million dollar bio-mass plant. It was advertised as using tree debris and yard waste.... but what it actually uses is whole trees chipped up into mulch. So my town does not allow you to cut down a tree without an act of God, but it relies on trees for power now. There was also a coal power plant that was still running, but the day Biden took office, they stopped using that plant completely. So we are completely dependent on cutting down trees to power our town now (what could go wrong?) and we don't cut down trees here, so they are trucking them in (I think it needs 40+ truck loads of trees a day to run) from all around and neighboring states.... sounds really great for the environment to me :/ And I am sure when the 300k people in town are all forced to switch to EVs, that number of trucks will increase dramatically.
