Get a composter/digester. Make your own soil. My friends across the country do that. Use leaves, all of your peelings, coffee grinds, egg shells, fish remains etc. It's a challenge when you live in a really hot and/or dry state. Sevin dust in a powder form is great and is safe within a short time for harvesting and eating.
