How big must an explosion be to make a fault line give away ? I mean, does any human-made detonation have enough force to cause the La Palma landslide or to cause the San Andreas fault to give way and turn California into an island ?

the rumor is they caused the earth quake that cause Fukushima.
the best fictional take on this is “State of Fear”, by Michael Crichton
If there's a fault line, all you need to do is to lubricate it by pumping water in. It doesn't even need heat.
But to answer the question, you don't need a very big explosion when the fault is on a 'hair trigger".
No sauce, but if I understand the science, if theres enough water vaporized underground in the explosion, it could magnify the detonation.
Kind of like a firecracker in the palm of your hand vs in a closed fist, sort of.
There's always natural frequency. No explosion necessary.
About this big.
