Many of them likely don’t have families to be released to. And or may not even be in any system to check for living relatives. No telling how many of them are even American. The International trade is big.

Generally speaking though. The people most likely to be trafficked are those who fly under the radar. Homeless, the Poor, runaways, orphans. Hell some may have even been sold into it by their families.

Less people asking questions if they suddenly disappear. It also equals less people eagerly awaiting their return.

And if the numerous implications of how long running and extensive some of this has been going on. It’s also likely some may quite literally be multi-generational. Grandma was a Victim, Mom was victim, so on down the line.

They may also want to avoid the media. Or the media doesn’t want to cover it.

My thoughts: Depending on how old the child was when taken, finding family might be extremely difficult. I've also heard (don't know if true) that the kids may have serious physical and/or emotional health issues that need to be addressed before anything else can happen.

Many of these vics come from the foster care system. So, no families to be reunited with. (VERY sad).

Many more are from overseas, maybe?

Not really that suspicious/strange to me.

Maybe they aren't rescued the bad dudes are just consolidating power. Kidding...mostly.

Why would the media feel compelled to cover reunions with families and victims of something that "isn't happening"?

The media are as evil as the perpetrators.
