I recall reading a while back some unsavory things about Zoom, and I don't care to use it. It seems that every-freaking-body is using it now, though. This is all from a year ago or so, but it seems to have fallen off the radar.
First, from the USG ~

Yet our own government uses Zoom for congressional meetings and whatever else.
Next, we have a lovely piece about the people working there ~

I know people who used it because it had a free version and the full version was cheap. As to why schools and government was using it instead of Teams or Skype that puzzled me but a China connection does make some sense.
I had never used Zoom until last yr when I was doing online coding classes. Not too terribly fond of it and honestly don't get the appeal. We use Teams at my current work and after being at this place for just a few months, I much prefer it to Zoom.
