The discussions in the GA threads about Glen de Vries appear to be missing the mark. We need to focus on his company, Medidata. Here' the description from their website:

Let me translate: Their software collects all the data on the clinical trials for big pharma. Why is that data sensitive? If you have access to all this data and can see the big picture, then you know many of big pharma's ugly secrets. This would include unfiltered information about the drug's true risks, side effects, efficacy, and who has died. By extension, you would also be able to tell when the FDA is making deals with these companies since you know their drug should never have been approved. Or maybe the FDA or big pharma are paying you hush money because you know where the bodies are buried.
So maybe when funds from various criminal activities start drying up, they don't want to pay your hush money anymore. Maybe one day they're earning your trust by buying you a rocket trip (or just telling their lackey Bezos to gift it to you), then a couple of weeks later they're sabotaging your Cessna.
And when you're a billionaire, you don't fly around in crap Cessnas that aren't maintained.

In July De Vries was made a Vice President at Dassault systems.
Then he’s shooting for the moon alongside Bezos.
Two weeks later he’s dead.

Alternate theory: Being an inner circle asset for big pharma, he was expected to keep a relatively low profile. Suddenly he's in the public eye boarding a rocket with William Shatner. They can't have a guy with his knowledge gaining influence through publicity, thus becoming harder to control. It's easier to whack a guy that no one recognizes, but it's very risky to whack a celebrity. They had to do it now before he started doing Ted Talks or Dr Phil.
Or the simplest, he never agreed to injecting kids. Even immoral people have some lines. And his ego made him think he can fight back without taking the white hats protection.

Only the "it was a hit" theory makes sense here. An intact Cessna, even an unmaintained one, does not just fall out of the air. It has a tremendous glide ratio. Years ago, I lost an engine on a Cessna 172 and had to put it down. When it touched the ground, the aircraft was travelling perhaps 50 miles an hour with full flaps and stopped almost immediately. This Cessna was flown by two experienced pilots and, judging from the crash photo, was uncontrolled when it crashed at a high speed.
Yeah I think your theory is bang-on…and as Britpat just posted, Olivier Dassault died in a helicopter crash in March…probably died for same reasons.
