Oh yes he did. He finished taking us off the gold standard and hid the inflation results by imposing a wage and price freeze so that inflation didn't hit hard until Carter was president. And we know he did it, because he announced it on TV. I watched it that Sunday night.

Actually, the pressure for wage and price controls was entirely a democrat push. And that push was intense. Nixon was between a rock and a hard place. He caved as part of deals for essential funding. It was a huge mistake and nixon acknowledged it.
