Why the hell didn't he send them home with oxygen and IVs? This has been possible for many years. Visiting nurses to give treatments were invented in the 1890s. I know the answer: insurance. Medical insurance is as evil a player as big Pharma and getting around it to get the money is more than most people can manage in the time span of an acute illness.
