You are only identifying half of the problem. The other half is identified in Revelation 17.
There are two groups (that we can identify) today that trace their history back to Babylon.
Babylon existed well through the age of Jesus. It was a city with tabernacles and a strong Jewish presence. Babylon was also a city of pagan worship. Babylonian paganism predates Roman paganism and actually informs Roman paganism.
Babylon is also the origin of the Babylonian Talmud which is the one that is so permissive of sex with children and so hostile to Jesus. Much of the Talmud was written after Jesus.
Babylonianism has a trinity - Tammuz, Nimrod, Semiramus. They also have lesser gods like Ishtar. Fun fact: Tammuz was born on December 25th and Ishtar wept for Tammuz 40 days who was then resurrected. This is the origin of both Christmas and Easter. You can thank the Roman Catholics for that.
The Babylonian trinity, like the other trinities - and there are a lot of them among pagan faiths - uses the equilateral triangle as a major symbol.
If you want to break your brain look into the origin of trinitarianism in Christianity. Pay attention to how baptism is performed everywhere from Acts forward and how the apostles addressed the many churches in their epistles. Note in whose names they baptize and in whose names they greet. Note also in whose name they do not baptize or greet.
