Rings are one type of comm that simply indicate a control network. Q indicated as much. The Beatles were a bunch of nobodies until Ringo joined them, for example (that's not Q, but pre-Q comms). Masons wear rings. Saturn has rings, which indicates that the person represents some type of control symbolism.
