Statistics.

When used in bad faith statistics provides justification to lies and why your physical observations of the present aren”t enough to overcome the fear of the future. With COVID is “reduced severity” or decreasing the risk of getting it. The populace doesn’t want to make decisions for themselves and you see this defer to experts mentality.
