I use a very ancient MacOS for email and a later MacOS for video etc. (but nowhere near the latest).

But here's the thing: the majority of modems, routers and the chips they use are made in China. The firmware is probably Chinese, too. And if you use a smartphone - well, you have my sympathy. ;)
