I know people who are staunchly supportive of bitcoin and its security. What does this case mean in terms of bitcoin?

absolutely nothing...nothing to see here. OP has no idea what he's talking about...again. Bitcoin is about FREEDOM...'number go up...freedom go up'...it's the current fiat overlords worst nightmare, but they can't avoid it.
