Biodefense Collaborations BARDA In 2011, Chimerix initiated a partnership with the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) to develop TEMBEXA as a medical countermeasure to treat smallpox outbreaks due to a bioterror event or accidental release.
