Margarine was first tried as a food for turkeys. The turkeys died. Hmm, guess they can sell it to people if they convince them the butter they have been eating for thousands of years is bad for them. Cue big media to propagandize the public. Pay off FDA to say of course it's all good and propagandize the school kids into the "food pyramid" BS. Hence the present mess.
