I'm glad the author included a suggestion for how to develop gratitude. It's been my experience that people who view themselves as victims lack the ability to feel grateful for anything, including any support they receive from others. They seem to think they're entitled to the support, or that it's never enough, or that it's easy for the other person to do, or some such means of just blowing it off as insignificant. This has caused me to think that being grateful is tied to being responsible.
Agreed and sadly, one of the most important lessons in life has become not to expect gratitude from doing anyone a favor. It's safer to assume people to either spit in your face or just walk away because that'll likely happen a lot more often than anyone saying thank you.
Perhaps it's you who are mistaken and you'll agree with me in a few years when you're a little older and more experienced?
I recommend trying to keep an open mind rather than preaching to others as if you have nothing surprising left to learn.
