The only legitimate reason a prescription drug has for doing advertisement is to make doctors aware of its existence. Such drugs should only be allowed to “advertise” to doctors and not the general public (though all the information should be publicly available anyways, just not in any attention grabby way).
Years ago, I was wondering why all these pharmaceutical companies were advertising ANYTHING on TV. They all have an army or Reps who get paid very handsomely to make sure the good doctor is aware of the latest pimple cream or ED pill....VERY HANDSOMELY.
So, along comes CONVID....and the light goes on.
They positioned themselves to take complete control of the media by becoming one of their biggest sponsors, and now they are the hand that no one will bite.
