So yesterday I started feeling nauseous, and then around dinner time started getting soreness and chills. Was going to tough it out and go to work anyway because I don’t want to deal with “you need to get a covid test” (never have, don’t plan to) “or stay out of the office for 10 days per state rules” (I have stuff to do there next week).
After a shower got a wave of hot and nausea and Decided today would be miserable in the office and that id call in. What would you tell your boss in this situation? I already had food poisoning this summer so don’t want to lie about that. Was going to go with lack of sleep but was wondering if you guys had anything better?
Either something completely unrelated, a line blew at your house or something. Or a medical situation that couldn't possibly be tied to any form of sickness. I started my year out with a lodged kidney stone and couldn't work because the pain was so excruciating. Maybe call in with kidney stones?
Ooh kidney stones is a good one, probably get a couple days off for that one.
I was out for 2 weeks cause I had to have 2 surgeries for it, couldn't fake that much but yeah most people won't argue a kidney stone, can't be traced to any kind of sickness, is reasonable to not work, and you should get a few days off for it at least. Can add fuel to the fire and tell them you're on narcotics for the pain involved in passing it and can't work on narcotics. Also important to note that the pain of kidney stones is not the "sharp scraping" but the blockage of the flow of urine. So at any time during it's journey (there's 3 pinch points), you can experience excruciating pain, so it's not a quick "lets pee it out" kind of thing.
