You know what's weird? I'm in Denver and bicycle along Clear Creek which drains into the S Platte. Clear Creek was running very high until very recently, I mean for months - like at spring-melt level but it went all summer and well into fall. I've been wondering if they were moving water somewhere unusually, on purpose, for what reason etc or am I just nuts.
The people who are responsible for managing reservoirs use the same idiots who forecast about global warming to do their long term forecasting, and they are usually incorrect. For example in 2017, the long term forecast for CA was continued drought like conditions, so at LADWP we held water in our reservoirs to prepare for another year of drought, then BAM. We had the wettest year on record for our watershed, and we couldn't get rid of water fast enough.
