I keep seeing headlines saying they passed something to extend the deadline. I'm not sure this is true anymore.

Yeah I was a bit confused as well, but looks like whatever was passed is not the one that extends the deadline beyond 15th this month.

That was the debt ceiling, I believe. I think the default is separate.
