I have this soft, pigmented (it’s a white, raised keloid scar) right on the border of my bottom lip/like right next to my lip due to a very nasty infection from accidentally biting my lip. But now it has tanked my confidence because looking at my lips the bumpy scar tissue right next to it sticks out and I don’t know what to do. I’ve already struggled enough with self esteem issues, acne, scars, and not being “pretty enough” like other girls struggle with. Unless they were blessed LOL. I’ve tried every scar cream, lotion, treatment under the sun BESIDES surgery because I cannot afford it. Is there any way out of this constant struggle ? How can I force my insurance to pay for it ? If any of you have had a small scar removed/excised how much did it cost so I know what to expect to pay? Btw my insurance is BlueCross/BlueShield :///// I’m trying to save up so I can get my confidence back but I am also afraid they won’t be able to fix it because it’s on the corner of my lip. And keloids grow back too. I just want them to fix it or at least make it look better than it looks. I fucking hate my appearance because of it. Sorry to be a doomer I just thought maybe someone could help me if they’ve been through a similar situation. :/

The keloid I have is kind of soft but it’s very pigmented and textured and you can see the bumpiness of it next to my bottom lip I think it looks horrible. Did the surgeon really fix your keloid? Did it grow back? What surgery did you get?
You probably notice it more than anyone else, but it must be hard for you to not look at it every time. Maybe less looking in the mirror might help too ;)
My keloid was inside of the lip actually, so it just affected the outline of my smile. Several years later, I feel the scar, but it’s no where near as large as it was. He called it a scar revision, he excised it, and stitched it back up all in about 5 minutes. I think the key is to allow the new scar to heal smoothly (be healthy, vitamins, no smoking, etc.).
Oh okay thank you for the reply. It’s a small rounded keloid and it’s white as hell/very pigmented and textured like the bothersome keloids are. It’s on the very bottom of my lip in the corner like on the very corner where you smile. It’s half way on my lip and extends down under the corner of my lip. It’s very bothersome. Do you think excision could make it look better and less noticeable? At least form a smaller, flatter scar? You had success with a keloid so I am slightly hopeful.
I’d get that free consultation to find out for sure. Just try not to let it get you down too much!
I’m thankful to have my partners undying support no matter what but thank you so much :) I’m gonna rack up some money and get it done. My biggest fear is spending money on the surgery and it does absolutely nothing and I spent a ridiculous amount and it’s wasted.
