It's a very enlightening post. I'd reply to the person with a question. Saying, you stated that, "you've done everything you were supposed to do," how do you know that's what you were "supposed" to do? I'm betting they'll reply with statements containing the word "experts." Which I'd again follow with more questions. I use this method on people often to force critical thinking. It's kind of a one sided Socratic method until they begin asking their own questions.
