In theory It makes sense. Easier to just put a brick of explosives on some 10+ year old equipment than airlift it back to Germany. There is 20+ years of sand blasted crap over there. Disable, remove electronics, detonate all ammo, fireball it.

The President didn't say 'easier' he said 'cheaper'. He questioned Milley and asked "do you think it's cheaper to leave it there then to fill it up with a 1/2 a tank of gas and fly it into Pakistan?"
