His lawyer Marc Richard's literally said his pitch to Kyle was "if you are looking for someone to go on a crusade (a crusade like ohhh IDK defending everyone else's right) then im not your guy." And also said he "doesn't defend causes he defend clients". Does that sound like someone who set out to protect my fucking rights or is that someone just trying to protect their own ass? He literally hired his team based on the premise of "we aren't doing this for everyone else, we are doing it for kyle". So yeah he really did it for all of our rights
