I have had asthma since birth....born premature with pneumonia. I am allergic to everything. I swam competitively for 20 years, which helped with lung capacity. I have been on all kinds of medicine, which seemed to make any respiratory sickness worse. Then I married a farm girl that has to have a dog. Living with a giant hairy dog slowly helped build up a tolerance for animals. I no longer take any asthma medicine except zyrtec everyday. I dont't use the inahler unless it is absolutely necessary. I also have an air purifier with a hepa filter in my bedroom. I replace the furnace filter every month.....hope this helps.
