Because they are desperate to get vaxxinating children, it's marketing and "Omicron" sounds scary to children and also sounds cool to be "fighting Omicron" by getting vaxxed.

Anybody else remember Transformers? The OG 80s cartoon, I mean. Who was the big bad, worse than Megatron? Unicron. They're hoping that the NPCs are making this subliminal connection. Unicron -> Omicron
