A mistake people make about "science:"
Science is a process/method. It is not an entity or an information set.
Saying one trusts the scientific method (as a generally effective means of learning more about something) would be a true statement. Whenever one trusts The Science, though, they are announcing their membership and obedience to the cult of authority. Nothing more.
Science is a method which not everyone can or will use, for various reasons, but most people think it is the body of opinions from people who say they are using science, whether they are or not. To paraphrase Richard Feynman, it doesn't matter how good your theory sounds, it has to agree with observations. That takes cold objectivity and imo very few people can get past their theory bias to be so honest.
