Public restrooms had these infinity towels that you dried your hands on
It wasn't an infinity towel, it was a 100 foot towel on a roll. When it got to the end it stopped. When it stopped just the dirty part showed and continued to be used.
I haven’t seen one for at least 30 years. I was just a little kid. And every one I saw was nasty. I didn’t know how the inside worked.

It totally was. I was born in 82 and I was a little kid the last time I saw one. Usually they were pretty slick with dirt. I’d rather just dry my hands on my pants.

They used these long before paper towels became a thing. A diner that my parents used to take me to as a kid had one of these in the restroom. It's the only place I can remember using one. You pull down the towel in the front to get a clean section and the dirty part of the towel gets pulled up from behind. It all works sort of like a conveyor belt.
