Beware of gifts. Seems like a lot of politicians say they won't do something then change their mind.

Seems like the Dems may be playing the R's yet again. E.g., a bunch of Dems say they're retiring and ask for "one last bill" for a good legacy, then change their minds and use that "one last bill" to cement an ill-gotten victory. See 2020 for a case history
