They have even lied to us about what constitutes a nutritional and healthy diet! They tell us that the food pyramid is the most healthy way to eat, but because of it, most Americans struggle with obesity, and diets that simply don't work and cause further weight gains!
When I studied Atkins and low carb dieting over twenty years ago, I remember being so angry that I had suffered through so many diets that always left me starving, and yet never worked. I was always told to graze small amounts throughout the day, and that rice, potatoes, pasta and breads were great diet foods if portioned properly, and that fats/oils were pure evil.
Once I went low-carb, my whole life changed and I started to lose weight and became very fit. I fell off that diet due to stress/depression, but when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, it was a huge wake up call for me and my rock bottom, and ever since then I have stuck to a keto / low carb diet and have maintained it for three years now (Lost 50 lbs). I also try to do intermittent fasting as well, which is extremely beneficial for your health.
my mom was born in 1932 and well all that crap started coming out in the 70s, this "high school drop out" was very clear that the advice and knowledge they were spouting was based on NOTHING. I'm so glad she was cynical on that front.
keto's not for everyone imho, but for well over a decade i specialized in helping people find their way back to health. It was amazing to see the variety of approaches and honestly, the one that did seem to work best for most was a keto or modified keto.
