So the researcher of this article did a shit job of researching... No mention of researching the library of Congress to confirm the existence of copyright?

Otherwise, they're running off speculation. Confirming the existence of the copyright is what matters here and that was not addressed. The lack of "promotional material" means nothing. Books can be published without being promoted. This isn't objectively false it's unconfirmed.
