There's a young girl at a local store who's been helping me find something out of stock. She called the other day to say it was there. I told her, "I hope you have a merry Christmas," and she loudly replied, "Happy holidays."
I suppose she was appalled that I said the C word.
LOL I'll be picking it up tomorrow. She's actually been very nice and helpful. Maybe the store makes her say that and she was mad. I don't know. It was kind of odd. This is the polar opposite of a liberal hellhole.

I think many say it both ways too.
One thing is that “happy holidays” encompasses New Years too, but on Christmas the only proper thing to say is Merry Christmas.
