Unfortunately, this is one way they keep people in line. Whether through threat or blackmail (children etc.) local politicos are largely controlled. It's why and how info. like the Vegas massacre of Trump fans (and attempted assassination) remained private despite widespread local knowledge of what happened. It is why this whole op is taking so long, so painfully long.
