The Feast of the Circumcision of Christ is a Christian celebration of the circumcision of Jesus in accordance with Jewish tradition, eight days (according to the Semitic and southern European calculation of intervals of days)[1] after his birth, the occasion on which the child was formally given his name.[2][3]
The circumcision took place, not in the Temple, though painters sometimes so represent it, but in the home.[3]
The circumcision of Jesus has traditionally been seen, as explained in the popular 14th-century work the Golden Legend, as the first time the blood of Christ was shed, and thus the beginning of the process of the redemption of man, and a demonstration that Christ was fully human, and of his obedience to Biblical law.

As Christ wished to fulfil the law and to show His descent according to the flesh from Abraham. He, though not bound by the law, was circumcised on the eighth day (Luke 2:21), and received the sublime name expressive of His office, Jesus, i.e. Saviour. He was, as St. Paul says, "made under the law", i.e. He submitted to the Mosaic Dispensation, "that he might redeem them who were under the law: that we might receive the adoption of sons" (Galatians 4:4, 5). "The Christ, in order to fulfil all justice, was required to endure this humiliation, and bear in His body the stigma of the sins which He had taken upon Himself" (Fouard, A Life of Jesus, tr., I, 54). The circumcision took place, not in the Temple, though painters sometimes so represent it, but in some private house, where the Holy Family had found a rather late hospitality. The public ceremony in the synagogue, which is now the usage, was introduced later. Christmas was celebrated on 25 December, even in the early centuries, at least by the Western Church, whence the date was soon adopted in the East also. (See CHRISTMAS). Saint Chrysostom credits the West with the tradition, and St. Augustine speaks of it as well and long established.
Consequently the Circumcision fell on the first of January. In the ages of paganism, however, the solemnization of the feast was almost impossible, on account of the orgies connected with the Saturnalian festivities, which were celebrated at the same time. Even in our own day the secular features of the opening of the New Year interfere with the religious observance of the Circumcision, and tend to make a mere holiday of that which should have the sacred character of a Holy Day. St. Augustine points out the difference between the pagan and the Christian manner of celebrating the day: pagan feasting and excesses were to be expiated by Christian fasting and prayer (P.L., XXXVIII, 1024 sqq.; Serm. cxcvii, cxcviii).
The celebration is not based on "Jewish" tradition as mentioned above. It is simply not true that the circumcision of Jesus was based on modern Judaism's radical circumcision. Jesus was not ever a 'Jew", but was an Israelite and His circumcision was of a far different type based on Old Testament (OT) tradition.
The OT circumcision is not anything like the a rabbinic religious rite called "peri'ah". Much later in the Hellenic period, about 140 C.E., the Jewish authorities modified circumcision procedure to make it impossible for a Jew to appear to be an uncircumcised Greek. A radical new procedure called peri'ah was introduced by the priests and rabbis. In this radical new procedure the foreskin was stripped away from the glans, with which it is fused in the infant. In a painful procedure known today as a synechotomy, in which far more foreskin was removed than before and the injury was correspondingly greater. The foreskin possesses a rich concentration of blood vessels and nerve endings. Yet the peri'ah circumcision severs 80 percent or more of it. Incredibly this procedure cuts off more than 3 feet of veins, arteries, and capillaries, 240 feet of nerves, and more than 20,000 nerve endings. The foreskin’s muscles, glands, and mucous membrane are all mutilated. The peri'ah or synechotomy procedure was unfortunately adopted by the American medical profession within the last 80 years and is the circumcision used today. It was 'justified' on a lie and was said to be necessary to prevent masturbation. This was the 20th Century medical profession (during Sigmund Freud's time), who bought into this BS. By 1985, when this lie started to come undone, a new lie was invented by the Jewish doctor, Thomas Wiswell, M.D. claiming the peri'ah prevented urinary infections. Careful examination of Wiswell's methods and data revealed many methodological flaws and thoroughly discredited (It was a lie).
We now know the opposite is true and circumcision causes greater urinary infections. In fact, scientific studies have consistently shown that circumcision does far worse and disrupts a child’s behavioral development and causes lifelong neurological damage to the child.
Circumcision did not exist in Christianity for 2000 years. With Jesus, this radical procedure of "peri'ah" did not exist for another 100 years or so. The procedure used in the Old Testament was one in which the very tip of the glans was removed. Circumcision is still not the prevailing practice in Christianity.
The Apostle Paul explicitly denounced the practice, rejecting and condemning those who promoted circumcision to Christians. Paul gave us a head-up and warned that the (((advocates))) of circumcision were "false brothers". And provides us there was a religious aspect to this appearing to represent a blood sacrificial offering. We certainly can see this today with Jewish ritual circumcision, the Messisa or Metzitzah.
Christianity has NEVER been based on Judaism. In fact Judaism is a newer religion than Christianity is. Judaism was created to confront the spread of Christianity - using the Bible as a prop and also to conceal Judaism's ritualistic practice of blood-letting.
The Jewish Talmud was compiled as a result of the absolute destruction of Herod’s temple, in which every stone was carried away leaving no trace of it’s existence. In it we learn:
In 66 CE, when the Roman general Vespasian swept into Jerusalem, Judaism was a cultic, oral religion, with Herod's massive temple as its lodestar. Everything happened in the temple complex. Four years later, Vespasian's son Titus razed it to the ground. A quote from the Talmud: "Where was God under the rubble?" wondered the Rabbis. "How to praise him now that the temple was gone?" The sages agreed: Jews would have to BECOME a people of the book, or they would disappear. Hence, they were NOT a people of the book before this time.
These people are not Israelites nor Judahites. So, Israel today is a false Israel. The Jews are not Israelites. From their own academic texts we find:
"Strictly speaking, it is incorrect to call an ancient Israelite a 'Jew' or to call a contemporary Jew an 'Israelite' or a 'Hebrew'". -- 1980 Jewish Almanac, 1st chapter "Identity Crisis". (Jewish Encyclopedia IV, 1902, p 335).
This is indisputably backed up by the archaeological finds of ancient Israelites and their skulls. Cranial shape and size does not change racially. The Israelite skulls were dolichocephalic (long-headed) with avg. cranial capacity of 1416cc. This is identical to modern northern Europeans. Modern day Jews are brachycephalic (round-headed) with a much smaller avg. cranial capacity of 1266cc. This fact alone convincingly proves modern Jews are not descendants of ancient Israel.
