Plus it's in the -preferred- Television frequencies, and that frequency doesn't usually carry too far. 100 miles if you're lucky. if you are really a ham, I'm actually studying for my Extra license right now, and my wife is studying for her Technician.
Well it's open to discussion. I think having a set frequency for emergency situations is always a good idea. I have a general one with some of my neighbors in case of extended power outages or heavy snowfall, etc. Not a ham. Just radios. But I figured some here may be.
