If she's had trouble with substance abuse, she's probably not very organized, what would happen if she took you to court? wouldn't she look like a fool for not seeing her daughter, would she have her case prepared and ready to go? can you let her destroy herself? it's usually the easiest way to go. don't give ammunition by arguing with her, sounds like she thrives on drama.
