My Grandfather recently died and I have been going through old photos of him when he was in the Navy during WW2. Its quit a mass of photos but in many of them him and his fellow soldiers make this symbol. Only difference is that they do it with both hands.
We did call the only other living dude we know of in the pictures to ask about it. He had no info to add unfortunetly.
It always meant “ok “. Like a thumbs-up. Nothing more.
