As a long time fan of OAN, smol honk frog is glad there will be another way to watch once it leaves DirecTV. DTV is way too expensive anyway, and I have a Roku so KlowdTV is available. Buh-bye DTV!
But there is one thing that will be missing: the ability to record any show on any channel and watch it later (time shifting). I don't know any way to do that with a Roku, other than separately-subscribed channel-specific "cloud DVR" functions which often do not work very well.
Is there any time-shifting option with Roku that works on all channels? I've got plenty of plug-in SSD, so space is no problem, but Roku is a dedicated device, so there's no way to get Roku shows onto the SSD so I can save it off for later.
I'm hoping that there is some simple answer that green froggie is just not seeing... Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
Honk you very much in advance!
Well... an update from the honkie froggie! Looks like KlowdTV has a dedicated box of their own, with a 14-day cloud-based buffer of shows that can be re-watched. As long as you don't want to save your shows for longer than that, time-shifting looks possible with any channel available on KlowdTV.
I still have to research more into this. By going with a dedicated KlowdTV box, you sidestep the Roku entirely. Might add a further update later, but this is encouraging.
