It's sad we live in an era where people have to qualify their statements in this manner. That's all.

humans are by nature social beings, so the fear of being ostracized is kind of baked into our dna. the problem the way i see it isn't necessarily that people hold their lip due to fear, but the rules being made by central committee on what's acceptable in public and what is not. it's not organic.
What on earth is central committee? Seriously the cool among us have always been the free thinkers! Why are people deliberately becoming sheep? Real question.
you're right about some always being free thinkers. by central committee, i mean the people behind the 4am drops for the mockingbird media. generally, people have always been sheep... forever. it's just that in the recent past, the powers that be spent resources to make the public believe they were free so there was more free expression. it made people more productive, but when the illusion becomes too expensive to maintain, they go full totalitarian. -frank zappa quote.
