It does appear that while he was previously enmeshed with these evil sort of people, he did manage to get himself out. He seems to be independent now, isn't really shown on MSM much anymore, and talks truthfully about goings on.
While it may be hard to trust him due to his past, I feel he is genuine. Either that or an extremely sophisticated pied piper.
