I agree with you both kind of. There's an image that gets reposted here often about the volatile waves used to demoralize a population. Give them hope and then yank it away over and over until you get the weak willed population you're looking for. The great awakening is however turning the tide and causing the opposite effect. So they want it to play out like the guy above you. It's gonna play out like you say. That's my thought on the situation anyways.
