The number of good people I know who believe a one world government is a great thing or that we have to reduce the population for the betterment of the world - I cant even keep count on them. And they all had leftist role models. I was one of them as well.
Ideas are seductive. It's hard to argue with abstract ideas. Thats precisely why we have a beast system that does not require a centralised command and control. You are speaking of the examples of 'peasants' in this country - those who are not under communism at present but are espousing the behaviors and 'benefits. They know not of which they speak. Those 'peasants' already under communism, often born into it, would not choose it. Speak to any 1st gen immigrant here in US about their experience. Any of them.
Also, look at any No Korea event video where the military and citizens are raucously praising Dear Leader with the fake tears and cheers. We see those videos and we laugh but it's enough to make you cry for them. They have no way out other than suicide by their own hand or by that of the state.
