This is super personal and not the place for this but I honestly have no idea where to go for help here. My husband and I are both sick. He tested positive for covid because his company required him to take a test.
Here's my dilemma:
- I just finished an antibiotic for an infected tooth and need to get a root canal but rescheduled because my husband was sick and didn't want to risk making anybody else sick.
- We were both taking quercetin, c, d3 and zinc so how in the hell did we get this unless it is true that there is no cure for the common cold or flu? So now, out of an abundance of caution we are taking the India pack of ivermectin, zinc & doxycycline.
- In addition I am also being treated with ciproflaxacin for a kidney infection and the online docs who are treating me are suggesting that if I'm still having issues that I seek medical care for IV antibiotics as this could turn into c-diff. The idea of going near a hospital literally has me reaching for xanax especially if I have the kung-flu on top of everything else.
- I take a pretty strong probiotic regularly so I'm not too worried about the antibiotics.
Symptoms of kidney infection are easing so my gut is saying to ride it out a little while longer.
Does anybody know of any type of home health care that I can get near the Pittsburgh, PA area for testing and IV antibiotics or should I ride this out and pray for the best?
You were on the right track with your thinking that you could end up with C Diff. Depending on what you just finished taking for your tooth and the fluoroquinolones (Cipro)—maybe not so much the Doxy—you are setting yourself up for a big change in your normal gut flora. And u understand the rest of that story. I see no reason to take both antibiotics at one time. Cipro is also a good respiratory abt. It can be hard on your kidneys tho so drink lots of water to keep them working.
I didn’t read the post thoroughly last nite. So… I think the online MD was warning u that antibiotics specifically the broad spectrum quinolone Cipro increases your risk of Cdiff. I am very curious as to what abt u took for your tooth problem. If u took Cleocin or Clindamycin (usually given when pt is allergic to penicillin) and are now taking Cipro your risks have increased exponentially. And severe cdiff would require hospitalization and IV abts—prob Vanc & Flagyl. As for the MD advising u to seek treatment and IV abt therapy if condition doesn’t improve/worsens, that is for the “safety of the pt” and CYA for the MD. Because if true bladder infection and organism isnt covered by prescribed abt or is Cipro-resistant, the infection can, for ex, spread to the kidneys causing pyelonephritis and acute kidney injury followed by worse case scenario of sepsis. Hope that helps. As for all of these infusions. Idk if they are necessary when the apple flavored horse paste has been all many have taken and recovered quickly.
I took amoxicillin for the tooth issue. We're still not feeling well but this is day two of ivermectin, doxy & zinc which again leads me to believe that this is just the run of the mill flu. Had very similar symptoms many years ago and the pain is definitely unmistakable. Low grade fever also controlled by acetominophin and/or ibuprofen.
Will do. Thank you. The fact that I can barely get my indoor humidity above 30% isn't helping. I can't help but feel that we both got sick because of it when we usually don't catch this kind of stuff.
About that- boil a large pot of water, toss something healthy and fragrant like orange peels or other citrus, spices like cloves, herbs like mint, eucalyptus, or any essential oils that help you. Keep an eye on the water level of course, and refill as needed, and your humidity levels should climb nicely.
