Mine was the 1996 Republican convention. I was in high school and we had covered how normally each party got a boost in the polls after their convention.
I would flip between channels (back then I liked all the nightly news people,) and on the last night Peter Jennings caught me off guard when he said, "Whether we like it or not, it looks like the Republicans will get a boost from this." And I remember thinking, "Whether we like it or not?!?" He lost all journalistic integrity in my eyes that night, and shortly after that Dan Rather had his Typewritergate and Bernard Goldberg's book "Bias" was published and all of that solidified my distrust of the MSM which made me wonder what else was going on in the world - the stuff they deliberately ignored.
