Well crap. I know a guy with a WOT. It makes it really fun to shoot, but damn near uncontrollable. Now my buddy will soon be a criminal. Hope the companies don’t have to provide the ATF with who they sold the things to.
The BATFE hit polymer80 (and other retailers) with subpoenas for customer data on who bought build-a-kits for pistols. If I recall, all of the subpoenas were ignored.
It depends on the level of cooperation on the retailer, the severity of the item, and the quantity sold. Something that only has a few hundred sales would be easier to track down and confiscate than something that sold millions of units. A small mom & pop retailer might fold under a subpoena but a larger retailer would have resources to litigate it.
