For reference, I'm from BC. I've visited Portland many times. Beautiful place. But my God is it a leftist sanctuary.
How are you doing? How are you surviving? Are you finding it OK? What's life like there in Deep Blue?

I'm here. This is only my 2nd post. I must say I am lost about how to navigate this site and I have SO many questions to ask.
No. I am from NC tho.
As to Oregon's "blueness" I hope that is changing. Really the only blue portion is Portland and the Willamette Valley. Everywhere else is red and eastern and southern OR just tried to become part of "Greater Idaho" last year - that attempt failed. I am stuck in the Willamette Valley. OSU perhaps has always been but now more than ever an "LGBTQ" school and when I worked there people were starting to include their gender pronouns on their email signatures. Gag!!! So glad to get away from there. I had a job I really liked at Hewlett Packard even though it was min wage via a contractor. I lost the job in November because I wouldn't get the vax. From essential to disposable, thanks HP.
If you haven't been to Portland for several years you will see a totally different place today. Rows of tents on the sidewalks, human excrement and the smell ... Last time I was at the Amtrak station I walked around a tiny bit but soon turned back as it seemed no longer safe to walk anywhere near there. There was also about a block fenced off with nothing but tents inside right near the station. Riding on the train you could see under every tree (for shade, rain protection) a homeless person's stuff. This is also the case in Eugene and Corvallis. Homeless tents in the parks, under bridges, trees, etc.
I've been living almost as a hermit in a tiny house on a property in a secluded valley just north of Corvallis since 2015. My "job" has been to transform an overgrazed horse meadow into a food forest. Until recently it was wonderful. Work the land, make an occasional car trip into Corvallis for groceries or chicken feed. Wonderful life.
But then came covid, and the owners of this property became utterly hypnotized by the evil vaxx idea virus. It got worse and worse. I refused to get the vaxx, and now I'm not allowed into the main part of the house. Our idealogical differences became impossible. As much as I love Oregon and its natural beauty, I now have to leave.
Fortunately, I have a place to go. My (vaxx-free!) sister in north San Diego county is eager to see me after many, many years. Sadly, I am moving from one liberal hellhole to another. I am curious what it will be like in San Marcos.
Watch for my new handshake account, once Oregon Honk Frog stops posting. It will be something appropriate for the near-desert climate of San Diego. I'm on the road with a U-Haul Feb 11 and 12, and the new account will appear soon after.
Bye bye Oregon. Hello San Diego County.
Meh. I wouldn't worry about changing the handle. Got a good ring to it.
Sounds like a nice change of pace. Life is about moving forward, even if it might not seem like it at the time.
Take care of yourself fren!
Thanks, Trump Troll Master. I like your handle too. I'll consider keeping this one.
I must admit I'm sad to leave behind all the green forests. Very little is ever really green down in San Diego. But you are right, it will be a change of pace!
One thing I am looking forward to is meeting in person a few actual red-pilled folks. Up here I feel so isolated. Down there I already know of several groups to investigate. So that will be interesting.
Of course, I'll keep in touch with all the great frens here in this virtual gathering.
I’m an Oregon native that moved out of central Oregon 6 years ago. That area used to be solidly red. The Bend area is now blue. The property taxes are extremely high. Rent and home values are sky high. Wages are still low. The lefties have ruined the state and there is no hope in sight. Mail in voting was the nail in the coffin. I love the area but it’s not the place it used to be!
The Governor?! She was not elected. We tried to recall her TWICE. Narrowly failed the last time, we had 3 recall petitions going. I wish I'd worked harder to get more people to sign. Because of her we may have a PERMANENT INDOOR MASK MANDATE soon. Can you believe it? I was so happy to see the 2nd opinion program where NO ONE wore a mask! And they said there is zero usefulness for masks. But will Kate see that program, probably not.
