Ok, so I'm the only one who read the article?
The headline is sensationalist. That is not exactly what the article claims. It's addressing the bills put forth by the UK govt to criminalize hymenoplasty and virginity testing.
There is plenty I disagree with in the article, but I DO agree that it has been damaging to women for societal demands to be virgins and surgery to 're-virginize' is sad. I guess there are still cultures that prevent non-virgin women from education, careers & marriage etc, but I don't really see that in modern day developed nations. I also think that it should be a woman's choice if she wants to reconstruct her hymen, but I can see where it could feel like a forced choice, again, in some cultures.
Anyways...pluses and minuses to the writing, but pretty misleading headline. I wouldn't spread that around in case someone actually searches for and reads the article and accuses you of misleading them.
I'll admit I didn't read the article, and only because it's CNN. I refuse to read anything they write.
Plus that organ breaks the second a female chooses to masturbate for the first time. The hymen has been a trash metric for virginity.
Lol uhhh...
Well, it IS a trash metric for virginity, but it's incorrect about it breaking the second one masturbates. It could be, or it could be compromised by tampon use or physical activity. Or it could require a dr. to 'make the cut'. With 4 daughters, one of whom was born with a very rare reproductive anomaly, I've consulted with a number of specialists who schooled me on this very topic.
Also, it is not an organ. It's simply mucosal tissue that for some is very stretchy, for others not so much.
