I've been "Preping" for two years and I'm still not fully confident I thought of, and had the money to get, ready. Today I bought two very largev storage containers for my sugar and flour. The ones I am currently using aren't big enough and are needed for dried bean storage. I also have been freezing eggs and dehydrating onions. Next dehydrate more apples and some celery. Then can up some corn meal, some meat and maybe some potatoes. Going through my seed inventory tomorrow. Been working on getting a wood stove installed. So much to do. So little time.♥️🇺🇸
Me since 08 when Obummer stole my pension, opened my eyes. You are never fully confident because no one can predict all emergencies but I laughed at everyone fighting over toilet paper, still I havent bought any since 08. I stay away from freezing whenever possible in case of power outs. Instead of big bins for flour, sugar, etc I store in Mason jars to prevent bugs from destroying it all. I can lots of meats and soups more for adequate hydration....I even keep jars of water.
The more you do, the more you remember needs done but you are always better off than anyone else.
Yes that works too, I’d love to do that, all the meats are in there so the flour is in cold store, the bay seems to work pretty well. I guess the whole reason for Bay is from the Romans. Who knew?

I use lemon juice in a bowl of water. Sorry I can't give you a ratio. You can also use a product called Fruit Fresh. I thinks it's just dehydrated citrus acid.
I don't soaked them any longer than it takes to do the peeling and cutting.
I have a tool that peels, cores and slices them with a few turns of the handle. Once I'm done I dump the water and place them on the dehydrator trays. That's it. You can also dehydrate in the oven at a very low temp but I like the counter top convenience better.
Given that a lot of what Walmart sells is from China, maybe China's paying Walmart
not to stock the food shelves, most of which would come from the US.
Thus, you screw the grower, the manufacturer, the transporter, and the buyer, among others.

Place a Bay leaf into the flour that will keep bugs away.
I just freeze it. Kills off the eggs that are in all flour.
